For the last time, Madonna's not going to be in it! Yeesh, he hasn't done it since Swept Away and even he hated that one.

I wonder who could play him really well? He has to look very proper, clean-shaven, strong-jawed. Hmm...

I really liked the Jeremy Brett version of Holmes. Thinking alomg those lines, but adding some action, I'd probably cast Chris Eccleston.

The original Holmes was Tall in stature, in very good shape, thin due to his on and off addiction with drugs like morphine and especially cocaine, and had such genius that he was constantly on the brink of insanity, which his cases were his vice. Sherlock is one of the deepest and rounded characters ever created in fictional literature. There are only a couple of actors that could really play holmes and due him any justice.

Downey will still be better than Sacha Baron Cohen playing Holmes, and Will Ferrell as Watson.

Jeremy Brett is Holmes in my mind, so Downey has a lot to live up to. Hopes are high, but I'm nervous.

Downey was 3rd on a list of 5 possible actors(Bale-Depp-Downey-Gruffudd-McGregor). So good job Warner Bro. Now I wonder if they will get Watson right???

As a looooongtime Sherlock Holmes fan, all I can say is... I'll wait to reserve judgement.

I suspect it could be fun. There've been several good Holmes movies with dubious actors in the role.
