Jon Bernthal just spoiled something major about Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In an interview ahead of the premiere of Spider-Man 4, Bernthal mentioned a scene that has many wondering exactly how he ended up there.
What did Jon Bernthal spoil about Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
In an interview with Noovie, Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland answered questions about their dynamic as Frank Castle and Peter Parker. They were asked which common everyday human activities are surprisingly difficult for them to perform convincingly on screen. While Holland replied, “Laughing,” Bernthal stated, “I hate Waking Up.”
On the same topic, Bernthal slipped something about Brand New Day by stating, “I just did ADR and I got the scene of me waking up when you’re in the hospital… I’m like, ‘What is going on with that?’ Like, come on… it was so bad. Like, ‘Why am I waking up like that?'”
This spoiler for the franchise’s fourth installment was revealed by Bernthal. What is known from this is that Frank Castle/Punisher would get injured. He would end up in a hospital and wake up to find Parker visiting him. Although Bernthal teased this scene, fans are now left questioning how he ended up there.
In the fourth movie, Spider-Man faces isolation along with new villains. These include Scorpion, Hulk, Tombstone, Ninja Assassins from The Hand, Sadie Sink’s undisclosed character, and more. From the latest poster revealed, it seems he is cornered by these villains. However, the Punisher is the only ally the web-slinger has, as shown in the trailers.
Whether he ends up in the hospital after a big fight with Hulk or from saving Spider-Man is unknown. But fans would be glad to know in advance that Frank Castle would wake up. Moreover, in the interview, the duo agreed that the hospital scene they filmed was “great,” which could be more emotional for viewers.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton. It also stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, and Tramell Tillman. The movie is set to release in theaters on July 31, 2026.
