Marvel Snags Three Directors for Hawkeye Disney+ Series

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel has selected Amber Finlayson and Katie Ellwood, aka Bert and Bertie, who are best known for their work on Troop Zero, and Rhys Thomas (Staten Island Summer) to direct a block of episodes for the Disney+ series Hawkeye. While no production start date has been revealed, it is nice to see the Marvel series making some progress in the development front.

The Hawkeye limited series will see Jeremy Renner reprising his role as Clint Barton, with the story also set to introduce his protege Kate Bishop, who still hasn’t been officially cast yet. Hailee Steinfeld is reportedly in talks for the role.

In the comics, Bishop becomes Hawkeye after Clint Barton, and is also a member of the Young Avengers. Disney has not yet confirmed if they have plans to give Bishop her own spinoff show or have her appear in the MCU down the road, but it is certainly a possibility. Hawkeye will premiere in Fall 2021 on Disney+.

Disney is developing multiple limited series featuring characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with The Falcon and the Winter SoldierLoki and WandaVision being two of the shows in development. Mackie, Stan, Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen will reprise their roles for their respective series.

Disney‘s recently launched streaming service is the exclusive home in the U.S. for subscription-video-on-demand viewing of the newest live-action and animated series and movies from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel and Fox. The service is ad-free, supported solely by subscription fees, and will be available on gaming consoles, smart TV’s, and connected streaming devices.
