La La Land‘s 10th anniversary gets one of its major mistakes rectified. Ryan Gosling earned praise due to his excellent performance but he had a major regret. Now, Lionsgate has decided to grant him his wish after 10 long years.
La La Land 10th anniversary rerelease brings Ryan Gosling’s updated poster
La La Land will be rereleasing in theaters to mark the Oscar-winning movie’s 10th anniversary. Ahead of its release, Lionsgate dropped a brand-new poster where Gosling’s hand has finally been fixed. The film production and distribution company wrote in the press release, “Over the years, Ryan Gosling has noted on more than one occasion that he would love to fix his ‘La La Hand’ from the original poster, most recently with a new dance partner. Well, Ryan, you have been heard!”
A closer look at the poster reveals Gosling’s hand was subtly edited. In the original poster, the actor’s hand appeared flat rather than pointed upward like his co-star, Emma Stone. Speaking about the pose, Gosling had earlier stated that he did that deliberately to look ‘cool.’ However, he never knew that the Griffith Park shot would be used as promotional material for the poster.
Gosling was unhappy from the moment the poster was released. He named it the ‘La La Hand,’ and claimed that the pose “killed the energy” of the image. The Canadian actor also tried to right the wrong from 10 years back in March 2026. Together with his co-star Rocky the alien from Project Hail Mary, Gosling recreated the La La Land pose. He also spoke about his antics on his partner, Eva Mendes’ social media. He stated, “This is my Hail Mary attempt to fix my La La Hand, and my buddy Rocky’s going to help me.”
Directed by Damien Chazelle, the movie won six Academy Awards alongside a record-breaking seven Golden Globe Awards. La La Land will be re-released in theaters in the US on August 16, 2026. For its UK audience, it’ll be August 28, 2026.
