New Blade Movie Being Created for Spike TV

The $400+ million Blade trilogy has been so successful for Marvel and New Line that they are taking it to the television format. Spike TV has stepped up the to the plate and will adapt the Blade character for the small screen. That’s something to set our Tivo’s for!

Blade will be produced by New Line Television and Marvel Studios with Blade trilogy writer and Trinity director, David Goyer, aboard as executive producer. Goyer penned the three Blade screenplays for the Blade trilogy and such continuity from the writer’s slot should make for a great popcorn flick.

Spike TV President Doug Herzog said, “The action-adventure genre is largely ignored in today’s television landscape, and we know it is something that our male viewers really want. Blade is a great movie franchise with an established brand that men already recognize and identify with.”

Unfortunately there was no mention of when we should expect the made-for-TV movie and a storyline was not revealed. Blade: Trinity just hit DVD shelves last week, check out our review here.
