Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons’ latest action thriller TV show has found a new streaming partner. According to a recent announcement by Michael Wright, Embassy will stream in the United States via MGM+.
Sharing the news, the head of MGM+ said, “Embassy is an exciting addition to the MGM+ slate—a high-octane six-part thriller with an exceptional cast and creative team.” He added, “Anna Kendrick, Sam Heughan, and J.K. Simmons, along with series creator Rom Lotan and directors John Strickland and Christian Alvart, have created a cinematic thriller that reinforces MGM+ as a destination for classic storytelling for a modern audience.”
Apart from MGM+ subscribers in the U.S., the show will also be available to fans in Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and Belgium. The announcement dropped after Prime Video had scooped up the series for audiences in New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Ireland, France, and the UK (via Variety).
What to know about Anna Kendrick and Sam Heughan’s new action thriller series Embassy
Embassy has a total of six episodes for its first season. The plot revolves around Layla, played by Kendrick, who faces an unprecedented situation at the U.S. Embassy in London. The story shows a group of armed mercenaries getting inside the Embassy.
Layla, an American diplomat, has two very tough choices in front of her. Either she can choose to secure the safety of the U.S. Ambassador (Simmons). Or there is a high-value asset inside the Embassy that has to be safely exfiltrated. Stuck in a confusing situation, Layla would now need to trust her instincts to get out of the dangerous situation. She will also have the help of her ex-fiancé, Sam Heughan, who plays a British SAS soldier.
Embassy is directed by John Strickland and is produced by AGC Television, Ascendant Fox, and Turbine Studios.
