AMC has renewed its hit vampire TV show for a fourth season with a new title. The announcement also came with a new teaser trailer that maintains the franchise’s eerie tone. The show will be based on Anne Rice‘s 1988 novel.

AMC has renewed its hit show, Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, for a fourth season. The new season will be retitled Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned and will focus on the character Akasha. However, no official synopsis has been released yet.
This news was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con International Hall H panel for The Vampire Lestat, the third season in the franchise, which concluded last week. Attendees of this panel included executive producers Mark Johnson and Hannah Moscovitch, and cast members Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, and Sheila Atim.

Moscovitch will be the new showrunner for Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned. She will also executive produce the show along with Johnson and Rolin Jones. Moscovitch previously worked as a writer for the first two seasons of the franchise and as an executive producer on the third season.
“In The Vampire Lestat, Mark, Rolin, Hannah and this extraordinary cast delivered an unforgettable season filled with propulsive storytelling that captivated the passionate and engaged fans of this franchise,” stated the Chief Content Officer of AMC Global Media and President of AMC Studios, Dan McDermott.
He added, “We can’t wait to continue the journey with Queen of the Damned, one of the most iconic stories in Anne Rice’s mythology, and watch our established and beloved characters confront Akasha with their world, and ours, very much hanging in the balance.”
Following the success of Interview with the Vampire (1994), starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, Warner Bros. tried to adapt the novel Queen of the Damned in 2002. However, the sequel was not as successful as the former movie. The same story will be adapted in the fourth season of the AMC show, which is currently one of the highest-rated series of the year on Rotten Tomatoes.
