Dan Trachtenberg-Directed Predator Movie Skulls Wraps Production

It has been less than a year since it was first reported that 10 Cloverfield Lane filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg was attached to helm a brand new Predator movie for 20th Century Studios. Now, it seems like the project has been quietly moving forward, with cinematographer Jeff Cutter confirming through an Instagram post that production on the fifth installment to the Predator films, which has been titled as Skulls, has officially been completed in Calgary, Alberta.

In his post, which you can check out below, he also went on to thank the cast, revealing that Native American actress Amber Midthunder (Legion) is indeed leading the project for the role of Kee. This marks the 24-year-old star’s first major movie project as its lead after appearing in TV shows such as The Originals, Legion, and Roswell, New Mexico.

Skulls will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who is best known for his feature-length directorial debut 10 Cloverfield Lane which enjoyed critical and commercial success. The upcoming fifth installment won’t have any connections from 2018’s The Predator movie. Further details about the film’s plot are still being kept under wraps, but it will reportedly center around a Comanche woman who goes against gender norms and traditions to become a warrior, and is also rumored to be set during the American Civil War.

The film is written by Patrick Aison, who’s previously worked as a writer and producer on Wayward Pines, KingdomJack Ryan, and Treadstone. Joining Midthunder in the horror sci-fi thriller are Dakota Beavers and Dane DiLiegro.
