Loki Season 2 Episode 4 Ending Explained

Is Victor Timely really dead in Loki Season 2 episode 4?

Yes, Victor Timely died in Loki Season 2 Episode 4, but he could still return in the last two episodes.

In Season 2 Episode 1, OB explained that temporal energy could peel the skin off of humans, and that’s what happened to Victor Timely. As he decided to be brave and walk out to fix the temporal loom, he got hit with a blast of temporal energy that “Spaghetified” him instantly.

If you slow down the scene, you’ll see his entire body melt and turn into dust, with his temporal aura potentially leaving his body. So, this variant surely died before the Temporal Loom exploded. But as Team Loki is about to get hit by a cloud of radiation, the screen cuts to black.

Now, looking at the trailers, we can be sure that the Temporal Loom explosion wouldn’t mark the end of everyone. We’ve seen Loki time slipping in front of a Jetski store in the trailers, which could be where Mobius was in his past life. So, it is possible that Loki’s time slipping would allow him to go back in time yet again, so he could prevent the explosion of the Temporal Loom. This way, even the dead Victor Timely could return.

Why did Loki prune himself?

Loki pruned himself to ensure that the past version of Mobius from Episode 1 would extract his temporal aura into the TVA’s timeline, thus ensuring his own existence in the present.

In Episode 1, we saw Loki getting pruned by a mystery persona, which we predicted could be the future version of Loki himself. That’s exactly what happened in Episode 4. The present version of Loki picked up a time stick and immediately realized what he was supposed to do.

He was able to figure out that his past version would soon be time slipping into his present. So, he reached the right moment at the right time and pruned his past self so that he could exist in the present, and may live on to save the TVA.

What happened to Ravonna Renslayer?

Sylvie used Brad Wolfe to prune Ravonna, and it’s likely that she ended up in the void at the end of time

Loki Season 2’s promotional material features a shot of Ravonna at a location that looks like the Void, with purple light covering her face. So, it’s clear that she’d end up at the end of time and meet Alioth. After that, she could actually tame Alioth and become the villain of Loki Season 2.
