The Undertaker Reveals CM Punk’s Double Pin Drama

The Undertaker recently shared a story about the time when CM Punk became involved in a double-pin drama with WWE Superstars. In 2006, as WWE headed to Camp Victory in Baghdad for Tribute To The Troops, which they do as a yearly tradition, something interesting happened behind the scenes between certain WWE Superstars.

Many times, WWE Superstars have sought to demonstrate their authenticity while on the road, and these confrontations have taken place backstage or even during flights. However, something similar happened on a flight during the Tribute To The Troops tour at Camp Victory in Baghdad between CM Punk, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin.

During the Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker recounted that CM Punk went up against Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin. However, the friendly tussle instigated by Vince McMahon didn’t last long.

“We’re drinking, everyone is carrying on. Somehow or another, the discussion comes up. I don’t know if Vince instigated this one or not. Bradshaw was on this flight too. The topic comes up as we’re on the way over. CM Punk, he fashioned himself as a jiu-jitsu practitioner. Someone broached the question, ‘You did jiu-jitsu. How long do you think you could last with one of these two wrestlers?’ It was Bobby Lashley, who wrestled for the Army, and Shelton Benjamin, who wrestled at Minnesota. Two high-level amateur wrestlers. To Phil’s credit, he said, ‘I’ll tap them out.’ That was about all it took. Now, the pot begins to really get stirred. Shelton, at this time, he didn’t drink at all.”

Furthermore, Undertaker provided details of the friendly match when Punk went up against Lashley and Benjamin.

“I remember Vince pouring a styrofoam cup full of wine, and Shelton just gulps it down. I honestly can’t remember who went first. There is not a lot of room. It’s tight, but there’s enough room. I want to say the first match lasted about 47 seconds. The other one was sub-40, where they had taken them down and pinned him. He didn’t back down, but my goodness, it was like blood in the water and two great white sharks circling. They could not wait. They didn’t disappoint. That was another fine case of Vince McMahon shit disturbing,” The Undertaker said.

Nevertheless, it was a friendly competition among WWE Superstars, a scenario that has occurred on numerous occasions.

What is the mixed martial arts record of WWE Superstar CM Punk?

In 2014, WWE Superstar CM Punk transitioned to MMA by signing a multi-fight deal with the UFC. Punk’s UFC debut in 2016 against Mickey Gall ended in a 2:14 submission loss. In 2018, he faced Mike Jackson, resulting in a three-round unanimous decision initially won by Jackson, later overturned due to a positive marijuana test. After a 0-2 UFC record, Punk retired from MMA.

The Straight Edge Superstar, however, decided to return to the world of professional wrestling in 2021 when he made a comeback at AEW. Fast forward to 2023, Punk has returned to WWE following several backstage issues in AEW.
