Netflix’s Cobra Kai Renewed for Season 5 Ahead of Season 4 Premiere

Netflix has renewed Cobra Kai, the series continuation of the iconic The Karate Kid film franchise, for a fifth season with production set to start in Atlanta this fall. The first three seasons are streaming now, with Season 4 premiering this December.

Cobra Kai takes place over 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament with the continuation of the inescapable conflict between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka),” reads the official synopsis.

The series recently received four Emmy nominations for its third season, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Stunt Performance, Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (Half-Hour) And Animation, Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (Half-Hour) And Animation, and Outstanding Stunt Performance.

“Season 4 finds the Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang dojos joining forces to take down Cobra Kai at the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament… and whoever loses must hang up their gi,” reads the official season synopsis. “As Samantha and Miguel try to maintain the dojo alliance and Robby goes all in at Cobra Kai, the fate of the Valley has never been more precarious. What tricks does Kreese have up his sleeve? Can Daniel and Johnny bury their decades-long hatchet to defeat Kreese? Or will Cobra Kai become the face of karate in the valley?”

The series also stars Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz, Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene, Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso, Peyton List as Tory Nichol, Courtney Henggeler as Amanda LaRusso, Vanessa Rubio as Carmen Diaz, Jacob Bertrand as Hawk, Gianni Decenzo as Demetri, Martin Kove as John Kreese, Dallas Dupree Young as Kenny, and Oona O’Brien as Devon.
