Spider-Man: This Beloved MCU Actor Won’t Be in Brand New Day Despite Rumors

A beloved actor from previous movies won’t be in Spider-Man 4. Although there were rumors of a small cameo, the actor himself debunked that in a recent interview.

Which MCU actor won’t be in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

J.K. Simmons has played J. Jonah Jameson since Spider-Man (2002). He reprised this role in No Way Home and Far From Home. However, he will not be a part of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

In an interview with ComicBook, upon being asked if he would be back as Jameson in Spider-Man 4, he replied, “Not in it, dude. I don’t know who on the internet decided that that was fact, but I ain’t in it.”

He was first seen in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man as the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle, who wanted to expose and villainize the wall-crawler. The plot for the previous two Tom Holland-led movies gave him a way to be part of the MCU as Spider-Man’s identity was revealed.

In Brand New Day, everybody has forgotten who Peter Parker is. Over this, fans speculated that the actor would reprise his role to uncover the masked identity, which now does not seem to be the case.

Additionally, he is currently promoting his upcoming drama, The Westies. According to ComicBook, production began in July 2025, and since Simmons is part of the main cast, he was likely busy filming the show. This is just one of his projects among others slated for 2026, which could have led to scheduling conflicts with Marvel.

The movie’s main cast has been revealed, with Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles from the previous movies. Additional members like Sadie Sink, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal, and Michael Mando have also been revealed. However, there is still some mystery surrounding the new superhero movie, including Sink’s character and the main antagonist.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be out in theaters on July 31, 2026.
