What Did Jeffrey Dahmer Do for a Living?

The infamy of Jeffrey Dahmer will continue to live on for years and years to come. This man was not just a serial killer, he even cannibalized his victims. Furthermore, he even stored dismembered parts of the men he killed and even committed necrophilia. Necrophilia is the act of having sexual intercourse with dead bodies.

Jeffrey Dahmer aka The Milwaukee Monster operated from the year 1978 to 1991. Between that time, he took the lives of 17 males of different age groups. Throughout his life, this killer worked a number of jobs. At one point, he was even in the U.S. Army. However, that stint failed to last long.

Every known job Jeffrey Dahmer did

In the year 1979, one year after his first murder, Jeffrey Dahmer joined the army. Although he was not keen on joining, he could not deny his father. The army sent him to West Germany where he worked as a medical specialist. According to his peers, he was an average worker. Dahmer was supposed to serve for three years. However, he was discharged in just two due to his unhealthy drinking habits. His alcohol abuse increased and his performance decreased. He even assaulted two people during his time in Europe.

After his stint in the army, Jeffrey went to live in Miami Beach, Florida. According to Country Living, he wanted to experience living on his own. In this new place, he worked in a delicatessen and lived in a nearby rented motel. Unfortunately, his alcohol abuse caught up to him here too. Soon, he couldn’t pay rent and ended up getting evicted from where he lived.

When his parents (his father and stepmother) failed to get him off alcohol, they sent the young serial killer to live with his grandmother in West Allis, Wisconsin. It is here where he began evolving into a notorious psychopath. He found a job as a phlebotomist at the Milwaukee Blood Plasma Center. However, this job also didn’t work out for him as he was let go in a couple of months. For the next two years, he stayed unemployed and survived on whatever money his guardian, i.e. his grandmother, provided.

In the year 1985, his grandmother urged him to look for employment opportunities and Dahmer got a job at the Milwaukee Ambrosia Chocolate Factory. He worked as a mixer and his shift timing was 11 PM to 7 AM. His weekly off was on Saturday evenings.

Country Living says that due to his shift timing, he had a lot of time during the days and even afternoons. Furthermore, rumors suggest that when he needed extra time to commit crimes he simply asked his employer for an off.

When was Jeffrey Dahmer arrested?

Officials apprehended Jeffrey Dahmer on July 22, 1991, in Oxford Apartments, which was located at 924 North 25th Street, Milwaukee. The court sentenced him to fifteen terms of life imprisonment on February 17, 1992.

However, an inmate named Christopher Scarver bludgeoned him to death on November 28, 1994.
