DC Studios has reimagined the iconic Death of Superman storyline in one of its most popular projects. The original crossover story appeared in issues published between 1992 and 1993. In the years that followed, there have been several adaptations of the narrative. However, the latest one takes the plot in a unique, uncharted direction.

My Adventures with Superman Season 3 reinvents the Death of Superman storyline
The Adult Swim animated series My Adventures with Superman explores The Death of Superman story in Season 3, which premiered on June 14, 2026. The series mixes the beloved storyline with elements of another popular entry in the Superman lore, Reign of the Supermen. In Episode 5, Jack Quaid’s Clark Kent / Superman finally defeats Cyborg Superman but loses his powers in the process. When his son Jon returns to his own timeline, he discovers that it has become even more terrifying because of an entire army of the Eradicator. During a new interview with ScreenRant, showrunners Jake Wyatt and Brendan Clogher discussed these changes.
Clogher explained that they decided to introduce Cyborg Superman in Season 3 “to give him [Clark] someone that would match him on his super level,” effectively making Hank Henshaw “the first villainous version of Superman to show up” in the show.
Meanwhile, Wyatt noted they ended up doing The Death of Superman “almost by accident.” They set out with the objective of doing the Jon arc “right” and wanted to ensure that everything would ultimately go back to Lex Luthor. The screenwriters concluded that taking Clark’s powers mid-season “would really mess up” the future.
Further, Clogher underscored that Season 3’s primary theme is the fear of the future, while Wyatt revealed that they wanted to raise the following question: “What makes a Superman: the Super or the Man?” The latter made it clear that their answer was the man. Wyatt also disclosed that the Death of Superman panels in which Lex rages about not being the one who killed Clark inspired their interpretation.
Wyatt added that Season 3 asks, “What if Lex Luthor did destroy Superman, and then had to live with the consequences of those actions?”
My Adventures with Superman Season 3 airs on Sundays.
