Avengers: Doomsday’s Major X-Men Star Gives Surprising Update on MCU Movie’s Ending

Avengers: Doomsday is set to reunite multiple first-generation X-Men members for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most expansive crossover to date. One of the core original X-Men actors set to return for the ensemble event has shared an update regarding the film’s top-secret ending.

What did Kelsey Grammer say about Avengers: Doomsday’s ending?

In an exclusive conversation with ComingSoon’s Tyler Treese, Kelsey Grammer spoke about his return as Beast in Avengers: Doomsday. The veteran actor expressed immense enthusiasm about reprising his role. However, he noted that Marvel Studios has not disclosed the film’s ending to him.

Talking about his role, he said, “I think he’s fantastic. I would play him forever. I would love to do another five or six movies with Beast. Whether or not that’s in the cards is not up to me or anything else.”

He added, “I don’t even know how this one ends. That’s just the way it is. I’m sticking with that. I sure do like playing him. I hope people enjoy watching it.”

The actor first appeared as Dr. Hank McCoy (Beast) in the X-Men films and later in the post-credit scene of The Marvels (2023).

Avengers: Doomsday will mark Grammer’s first full-length appearance within the main MCU storyline. He is set to appear alongside some of the original X-Men cast members. This includes Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler.

Although Marvel has yet to reveal Beast’s role specifics, the mutant scientist is expected to play some part in combating the increasing multiversal threat. Grammer has confirmed that he used motion-capture technology to bring the blue-furred character to life.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Doomsday is the fifth Avengers movie. This is one of Marvel’s largest crossover films to date. It will bring together characters across multiple realities, including teams from the Fantastic Four, Wakanda, the New Avengers, and the original X-Men timeline.

Robert Downey Jr. is also set to return to the franchise in a new role as Doctor Doom. The ensemble cast features Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Letitia Wright, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Tom Hiddleston, and Channing Tatum.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters worldwide on December 18, 2026. The film will lay the groundwork for the December 2027 release of Avengers: Secret Wars.
