A new Avatar: The Last Airbender project will soon become available on Paramount+. This comes a month after the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender TV series returned with its Season 2 on Netflix.
Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender hits Paramount+ this week
The animated fantasy movie Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender debuts on Paramount+ on July 25, 2026. The film will also play at the AMC Burbank Town Center 6 in Los Angeles and the AMC Empire 25 in New York City from July 24 to July 30, making it eligible for Oscar and other award nominations. Additionally, the Movie will have a screening at the San Diego Comic-Con on July 24 (via Variety).
Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender is the direct continuation of the narrative that began with the original Nickelodeon 2005 series. Lauren Montgomery directed the movie from a screenplay by Tim Hedrick and Christopher Yost, based on a story by Hedrick, Kenneth Lin, and the original series creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino.
Its voice cast includes Eric Nam as Aang, Dave Bautista as Tagah, Jessica Matten as Katara, Steven Yeun as Fire Lord Zuko, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, and Dionne Quan as Toph Beifong.
According to the official log line, the plot revolves around Avatar Aang, the world’s last Airbender, as he “learns of an ancient power that could save his culture from extinction. With the help of his friends, he embarks on a global quest to find it before it falls into the wrong hands and threatens to upend the peace they sacrificed everything to achieve.”
Paramount Pictures originally planned a theatrical release for the movie. After several delays, it had locked in the October 9, 2026, release date. But Paramount moved it to a direct-to-streaming release in December 2025 (via Deadline). Then, in April this year, the full movie was leaked on X, which ultimately led to an arrest.
