James Gunn confirms there are no F-bombs in Supergirl
Despite recent reports suggesting otherwise, James Gunn has confirmed that Supergirl will not contain any F-bombs.
The DC Studios co-head addressed the speculation directly on Instagram Threads. He did so after online discussions claimed the upcoming superhero film would become the first movie in the new DC Universe to use F-bombs. Responding to the reports, Gunn wrote on Instagram Threads, “There is no F-bomb. But Peacemaker, in the DCU, has always done this hundreds of time.”
The clarification follows comments made during a recent visit to the film’s set. They led many fans to believe the word would appear in the final cut. Executive producer Chantal Nong Vo’s comments were widely interpreted as a sign that the filmmakers were considering including the F-bombs in the movie.
She said, “How many times? We’ll see. Obviously, this is a PG-13 movie, so it’s limited when it comes to ratings, but we have been being like, ‘Is this her f–k? Is this her f–k? So, we have different options. I think there’s one that’s special in Craig’s heart, but we are having a lot of fun with it (via CBR).”
The film is scheduled for theatrical release on June 26, 2026. It is directed by Craig Gillespie and stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El. The upcoming movie follows the titular lead on a dangerous journey across space. She takes on this adventure after a brutal tragedy sends her on a mission. Along the way, she joins forces with an unlikely companion as she pursues a quest driven by revenge.
