A new scoop reveals that a popular James Bond candidate has dropped out of the running. Many rumors have listed the potential actors competing for the coveted role over the last several months. Denis Villeneuve is directing the upcoming Bond installment.
Who has reportedly dropped out of the James Bond casting race?
According to Jeff Sneider of The InSneider, Harris Dickinson has officially removed himself from the 007 actor race. It should be noted that neither Dickinson nor Amazon MGM Studios has commented on the matter as of yet. Dickinson was first reported to be in the running over a year ago.
If the report is true, it’s unclear why Dickinson would take himself out of the running for such a prestigious role. He was also rejected as a potential choice by the retired Bond casting director Debbie McWilliams, although her choice had nothing to do with the actor’s talent. Regardless, several other actors have been reported as Amazon’s top picks for the next Bond, including Louis Partridge and Jacob Elordi, among others.
Dickinson will next be seen in the highly anticipated four-part Beatles movie series, where he’ll play John Lennon. The films will be released in 2027. The actor was recently featured in 2024’s Babygirl, followed by 2025’s Urchin.
The search for the next James Bond continues as more rumors come in. A recent development revealed that director Denis Villeneuve will move on to a new round of auditions for contenders later this year. Surprisingly, football star Jude Bellingham also expressed his desire to play James Bond in a recent interview. Besides the reported top choices, there are still plenty of underrated actors who could pick up Bond’s mantle, along with his license to kill.
