Taylor Swift finally released the Toy Story 5 single she was working on. Inspired by Jessie‘s character journey, the pop star announced it a few days ago.
Taylor Swift debuts ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’
Swift has released “I Knew It, I Knew You,” through Walt Disney Records. It can now be streamed on major music platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
To mark its launch, the songstress shared a video on Instagram showing her as a young girl walking and stomping the ground while wearing a cowgirl outfit.
“Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once,” she said of her experience creating the single. “And being a @toystory kid from the age of 5 til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”
She then thanked the film’s director, Andrew Stanton, for thinking about her as the person to write the song while working on the screenplay. The “All Too Well” musician also thanked the background scorer Randy Newman for his work on the film series’ soundtrack. “You created the Toy Story musical world, and we are lucky to get to live in it,” she further remarked.
The 36-year-old continued, “By we, I mean myself and my pal @jackantonoff. We wrote this with so much adoration for these characters that made us laugh and helped us learn lessons and think outside the backyard all throughout our childhoods. “I Knew It, I Knew You” from Toy Story 5 is out everywhere now.”
Three CD editions will launch on June 19, the day the movie comes out. These include:
- The original single as it appears in the movie.
- A special acoustic version.
- A special piano version.
Two 10” inch vinyl will also drop the same day. One is themed after Jessie’s hat, while the other is inspired by her sheriff’s badge.
