Panem is heading to London next year for the first-ever stage adaptation of The Hunger Games. The play will open in the Fall of 2024.
Award-winning playwright Conor McPherson (Girl from the North Country, The Weir) is adapting the first novel in Suzanne Collins’ dystopian series. Matthew Dunster (Hangmen) will helm the production.
“I’m very excited to be collaborating with the amazing team of Conor McPherson and Matthew Dunster as they bring their dynamic and innovative interpretation of ‘The Hunger Games’ to the London stage,” Collins said in a press release.
The creative team behind The Hunger Games stage adaptation includes set designer Miriam Buether, costume designer Moi Train, choreographer Charlotte Broom, lighting designer Lucy Carter, sound designer Ian Dickinson for Autograph, video designer Tal Rosner, fight director Kev McCurdy, casting director Amy Ball, production manager Gary Beestone, and performer flying by John Maddox for Suspended Illusions.
The Hunger Games producers include Tristan Baker & Charlie Parsons for Runaway Entertainment, Oliver Royds for BOS Productions, and Isobel David by arrangement with Lionsgate.
What to Expect in The Hunger Games?

Collins’ books were adapted for the screen by Lionsgate. The first film in The Hunger Games franchise premiered in 2012 with Jennifer Lawrence starring as Katniss Everdeen. The four films combined to gross nearly $3 billion worldwide.
A prequel film, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, arrives in theaters on November 17, 2023.
