All five Hunger Games movies are set to hit theaters again ahead of a highly anticipated addition. The original four films star Jennifer Lawrence, while the franchise’s fifth film expands the world of Panem through a new story.
Why all 5 Hunger Games movies are returning to theaters
Lionsgate and Fathom Entertainment are bringing the Hunger Games franchise back to theaters ahead of a brand-new installment in 2026. Jennifer Lawrence is set for a comeback in her beloved role with a “brutal new chapter,” titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
Before that, all five previous films will return to theaters from September 3 through September 7, 2026, to promote the upcoming installment. The Hunger Games: All Five Films will feature exclusive sneak peeks of the upcoming movie.
Starting September 3, 2012, The Hunger Games will hit theaters, followed by 2013’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on September 4, 2014’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 on September 5, 2015’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 on September 6, and 2023’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes on September 7.
Tickets for all five movies are now on sale ahead of Sunrise on the Reaping’s arrival. The new chapter serves as a prequel to the original four films and a sequel to The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. It will follow a young Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada, during the 50th Hunger Games, where the stakes are now even deadlier because there are double the tributes.
“The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping revisits the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell,” reads the official synopsis.
The cast also includes Mckenna Grace, Whitney Peak, Jesse Plemons, Kelvin Harrison Jr., and Maya Hawke. Ben Wang, Elle Fanning, Kieran Culkin, and Lili Taylor are also playing key roles.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will hit theaters on November 20, 2026.
