Jang Dong-Yoon’s Like Flowers in Sand Trailer: Friendship Stops Wrestler Baek-Doo From Quitting

Like Flowers in Sand is an upcoming K-Drama, starring Jang Dong-Yoon and Lee Joo-Myoung in lead roles. The Netflix series is a sports romance drama about a wrestler and his struggle to continue the sport.

Jang Dong-Yoon plays Kim Baek-Doo, a wrestler and the youngest son of a prestigious Ssireum clan. He is also a member of the Ssireum wrestling team for the Geosan County office. Once a genius wrestler suddenly decides to retire.

The recently released Like Flowers in Sand trailer teases his childhood friend Oh Yoo-Kyung (Lee Joo-Myoung) will stop him from quitting. Watch it here:

Like Flowers in Sand will premiere on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 9.00 pm KST on ENA. It will also stream on Netflix and Viki. The Jang Dong-Yoon K-drama will take over the time slot of Moon in the Day, which is ending next week.

New episodes of Like Flowers in Sand will air twice a week — on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The director is Kim Jin-Woo and the writer is Won Yon-Jung. Aside from the Daily Dose of Sunshine actor, the cast includes Lee Joo-Myoung as Oh Yoo-Kyung, Yun Jong-Seok as Min Hyun-Wook, Kim Bo-Ra as Joo Mi-Ran, Lee Jae-Joon as Kwak Jin-Soo, and Lee Joo-Seung as Jo Seok-Hee.

The Like Flowers in Sand trailer begins with Baek-Doo saying that he will retire if he doesn’t bag the “Jangsa” title in a wrestling match. People around him are concerned that the genius prodigal son has lost touch with the game. 

The trailer further introduces the female lead character, Oh Yoo-Kyung. She is Baek-Doo’s childhood friend who returns to the Ssireum team as the management leader. She changes his life when he thinks he should retire. The video shows the lead characters’ bond growing stronger. The trailer ends with Baek-Doo telling Yoo-Kyung, “I am back because of you.”

Like Flowers in Sand K-Drama will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays on ENA and Netflix.
