Triple 9 is leaving Netflix next month

The action thriller Triple 9 is set to leave Netflix next month. According to What’s on Netflix, the film will be removed from the streaming platform on August 1, 2026.

The film was directed by John Hillcoat from a screenplay by Matt Cook. It was released in U.S. theaters on February 26, 2016. The story follows a team of corrupt police officers and longtime criminals whose lives become entangled with the Russian mob. They are assigned a near-impossible mission involving classified government files. To create a diversion, the group plans to stage a “999,” the police code for an officer down.

They choose a rookie detective as the intended target. However, when the plan unravels and the officer survives, suspicion begins to spread. As investigators close in on the corruption within the department, the crew faces increasing pressure and a series of violent confrontations.

The film stars Casey Affleck as Detective Chris Allen and Anthony Mackie as Detective Marcus Belmont. Other cast members include Chiwetel Ejiofor as Michael Atwood, Clifton Collins Jr. as Detective Franco Rodriguez, Winslet as Irina Vlaslov, and Gadot as Elena Vlaslov, among others.

Triple 9 received mixed reviews upon its release. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 54 percent score from critics based on 182 reviews. Meanwhile, its audience score stands at 41 percent. Gary Dowell of Dark Horizons reported, “If it had been more lurid or more ridiculous, Triple 9 would at least function as a guilty pleasure. Instead, it’s a poor man’s Heat.”
