Janhvi Kapoor‘s upcoming sports drama, Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, finally has a new release date. Directed by Sharan Sharma, the film also stars Rajkummar Rao alongside Janhvi Kapoor. The duo had earlier teamed up for Roohi in 2021, and the chemistry between the two was undeniable.
As per reports, Mr. and Mrs. Mahi is based on the life of cricketer and former team India Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Sharing the title poster of the film, Karan Johar wrote, “It’s all heart and more, that makes a magical story ‘pitch-er perfect’! #MrAndMrsMahi in cinemas on 19th April, 2024.” Check out the announcement post:
When is Mr. and Mrs. Mahi releasing?
Mr. and Mrs. Mahi is slated for a release on April 19, 2024. The film is produced by Karan Johar, Zee Studios, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta.
In a recent interview, Janhvi Kapoor revealed she got many injuries during the shooting of the film. She said, “I shot Mr. and Mrs. Mahi. I think doing that caused quite a bawaal in my life because of my injuries and various other reasons. And it went on for a while and so things kept getting planned and then cancelled and moved around. So, it was changing a lot of things in my life. It was a very intense film to shoot and it was physically demanding. So, me and Sharan who are very close we’d also get into fights and it was just a very hectic time, I think.”
Previously, the actress also stated that, “It was an exhaustive process of six months to get into the skin of the character and sync into the role.”
On the occasion of wrapping up the shoot for Mr. and Mrs. Mahi back in May, Jahnvi Kapoor shared a post. She captioned it with, “2 years since I first picked up my bat. And now we’ve finally wrapped #MrandMrsMahi. I thought I’d wake up today feeling lighter and relieved because we all gave more to this film than we thought was even possible. But I feel kind of empty. Like a blank canvas. I feel like we’ve been to war and back, and I saw so many heroes in action.”
She expressed her gratitude towards the crew members and also thanked the film’s director, Sharan Sharma, as well as co-star Rajkummar Rao.
