Stree 2 has generated significant buzz among audiences with the release of its much-anticipated trailer. As the countdown to the film’s release reaches its final hours, fans are eagerly waiting to experience the horror drama on the big screen.
Maddock Films first introduced the franchise in 2018 with Stree, which quickly became a fan favorite. Initially, makers had set Stree 2 for Independence Day release on August 15, 2024. Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana are all reprising their iconic roles.
Adding to the excitement, Tamannaah Bhatia and Varun Dhawan are confirmed for special appearances, with the latter reprising his role as Bhaskar from Bhediya. This crossover further strengthens the Maddock Cinematic Universe, which has been expanding since Stree first captured the audiences’ imaginations in 2018.
Previously, Shraddha Kapoor’s character made a cameo in Bhediya, hinting at the interconnectedness of these films. Fans are now eagerly awaiting to see how Varun Dhawan’s Bhaskar will impact the storyline in Stree 2.
Speculation is also rife about a potential cameo by Akshay Kumar. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor hinted at multiple surprise appearances. The former teased, “The movie has 3 to 4 cameos,” while the latter playfully exaggerated, saying, “55… I’m joking.” She added, “But I have to say that they are special, and I think the audience will be thrilled by them.”
Ahead of its theatrical release, Stree 2 has successfully completed its censor board formalities and received a U/A certificate. The film is reportedly set to run for a total of 2 hours, 29 minutes, and 29 seconds of screen time. The first installment centered around a malevolent spirit named Stree, who abducted men found alone during the four nights of a festival in Chanderi. However, Stree 2 takes the story to a new level with the introduction of “Sar Kata Bhoot,” a beheaded ghost that now haunts the village, abducting women and reigniting fear among the locals. The trailer hints at Shraddha’s character returning to Chanderi to reunite with Vicky and his friends.

Despite a crowded box office on Independence Day, industry experts are optimistic about the thriller’s performance. Trade analyst Girish Johar predicts a strong opening, estimating that Stree 2 could earn between $2.3 million and $2.9 million on its first day.
