The Dowdle brothers are back and it looks like their long-mooted thriller, The Coup, is getting underway. The brothers – John Erick and Drew – spoke to Shock about this project back when they were doing press for their film Quarantine. An opportunity to work with M. Night Shyamalan came along, however, and they moved into Devil instead. But a recent cast update has shown that The Coup is moving into pre-production.
Owen Wilson (Midnight in Paris) has joined the project which is about an American family in their new overseas home soon finds themselves caught in the middle of a coup, and they frantically look for a safe escape while rebels mercilessly attack the city.
The Dowdles informed us the film defintely has some horrific elements. Still no word yet as to when their first feature, The Poughkeepse Tapes, will be released.
