Violent Night 2’s release date could arrive by late 2025 at the earliest.
Conversations about a prospective sequel have been around since November 2022, before the theatrical release of the first film. During a January 2024 interview with The Wrap, Tommy Wirkola, who helmed the original movie, revealed that the sequel was in development.
In March 2024, producer Kelly McCormick offered updates on Violent Night 2 and the sequel to another fun action film, Nobody (2021). “We are planning on returning to those universes. Hopefully, honestly, even potentially end of this year for Nobody 2 and, the beginning of next year for Violent Night 2, if we can find time in everybody’s busy schedules,” she told Collider at SXSW 2024. “But the development’s going super well and everybody’s really, really excited about moving those worlds forward.”
McCormick also revealed that David Harbour, who portrays Santa, was eager to reprise his role. “We’re well into a couple of drafts [of scripts] and things are going super well, but there’s still a little work to do,” she added. If the production succeeds in keeping the current tentative schedule, then the sequel can premiere in late 2025 at the earliest.

Besides Harbour, the cast of the first film includes John Leguizamo as Scrooge, Alex Hassell as Jason, Alexis Louder as Linda, and Edi Patterson as Alva. Harbour will most likely return as Santa in the sequel, but no information is available on whether other members of the original film’s cast will reprise their roles as well.
