The Other Mommy trailer is already frightening horror fans before the film’s release in theaters. The first trailer has debuted online after being shown alongside Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. The Jessica Chastain horror movie manages to deliver real scares without giving too much away.
“From producer James Wan, one of the most influential architects of modern horror, and Blumhouse Atomic Monster, the studio behind Backrooms and Obsession, comes a terrifying trip from breakout genre director Rob Savage, into the darkening world of a young girl, Bela, who forms a relationship with a sinister entity in her home who looks uncannily like her own mother,” says the official description.

What do we see in the Other Mommy trailer?
The Other Mommy trailer gives us a gradual revelation of supernatural horror involving Bela (Arabella Olivia Clark), whose family is already under stress in their home. The trailer begins with Bela in her bedroom with the odd sounds coming from her closet. She then finds herself face-to-face with the strange “Other Mommy” creature. This creature first seems harmless and even helpful, but soon becomes a threat.
The trailer gets very chilling as it progresses. The haunting gets much darker as Bela’s parents start hearing strange sounds around the house. The makers did not reveal the creature’s true form in the glimpse and solely focus on building a tense atmosphere. Jessica Chastain’s character seems trapped in the encroaching chaos as the family tries to decipher what the entity wants.
Other Mommy is based on the 2024 novel Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman. It sees Rob Savage (The Boogeyman) in the director’s chair. The star cast includes Jessica Chastain, Arabella Olivia Clark, Jay Duplass, Dichen Lachman, Sean Kaufman and Karen Allen. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on October 9, 2026. It is produced by Blumhouse and Atomic Monster, and distributed by Universal Pictures.
