David Harbour’s Violent Night is leaving Peacock this month

David Harbour’s action-packed Christmas thriller Violent Night will leave Peacock on July 20, 2026, giving subscribers a final opportunity to stream the holiday action film before it departs from the platform. The film combines festive elements with intense action, offering viewers a unique take on the traditional Christmas movie experience.

Tommy Wirkola directed Violent Night from a screenplay by Pat Casey and Josh Miller. The film arrived in U.S. theaters on December 2, 2022. Following its theatrical release, the action-comedy became a hit with audiences and is set to receive a sequel later this year.

The story unfolds on Christmas Eve. A team of mercenaries led by Scrooge storms the lavish Lightstone estate and takes the family hostage. As the situation escalates, Santa Claus arrives during his annual gift deliveries and turns the deadly standoff into a violent battle for survival.

After growing disillusioned with centuries of spreading holiday cheer, Santa unexpectedly joins the confrontation. He fights to protect seven-year-old Trudy and her family from the attackers.

The cast includes David Harbour as Santa Claus, John Leguizamo as Scrooge, and Alex Hassell as Jason Lightstone. Alexis Louder plays Linda Lightstone, while Edi Patterson portrays Alva Lightstone and Cam Gigandet stars as Morgan Steel, among others.

Upon release, Violent Night received generally positive reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 74 percent critics’ score based on 215 reviews. Audiences responded more positively, giving it an 88 percent score. Despite its reported $20 million production budget, the film grossed more than $76 million worldwide. Its commercial success helped pave the way for a sequel.
