Shock Video: Eli Roth & Lorenza Izzo on The Green Inferno & Knock Knock

Eli Roth and Lorenza Izzo on The Green Inferno and Knock Knock

It’s been eight years since a movie directed by Eli Roth has hit theaters, but that’s not really his fault and fans of his earlier movies Cabin Fever and Hostel should be thrilled to know that they’ll be able to see two new movies from Roth in the next month, both of them starring his Chilean starlet (and wife) Lorenza Izzo.

To be fair, Roth’s return to directing, The Green Inferno, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival’s “Midnight Madness” two years ago but it got caught up in some distribution issues before Blumhouse Productions stepped in to release the movie through their BH Tilt deal with Universal. Because of this, it will be released just weeks before its follow-up Knock Knock, starring Keanu Reeves.

In The Green Inferno, Lorenza Izzo (from Aftershock, above left) stars as college student Justine, who is convinced by handsome activist Alejandro (Ariel Levy, also from Aftershock) to travel down to South America to try and stop loggers from destroying the rain forests that are threatening the natives only to end up on the menu for a tribe of cannibals that capture them after their plane crashes.

By comparison, Knock Knock is a smaller, more confined thriller that stars Keanu Reeves as an architect, left at home to work while his wife and two kids go on vacation, when a couple of pretty young women show up on his doorstep in the middle of a storm and ask to come in. As you can tell from the picture above–that’s Izzo on the right with the gun–things don’t go quite like the Penthouse Forum story that might have been.

ShockTillYouDrop.com sat down with Roth and Izzo for the interview you can watch in the Video Player below, talking about both movies, but also asking about the planned sequel to The Green Inferno and talking about Roth’s upcoming shark movie Meg, which he probably will be filming in Australian and shockingly, he’ll be shooting for a PG-13 rating, citing Jurassic World as an example where you can have brutal kills while maintaining (If that happens, it will probably be the only time Roth has done ANYTHING for a PG-13 rating.)

The Green Inferno opens nationwide on Friday, September 25 with previews Thursday night, while Knock Knock will open in select cities and on VOD on Friday, October 9.

Enjoy the interview!
