Upcoming K-Drama December 2023 Releases: Sweet Home 2, Welcome to Samdal-ri & More

With new K-drama releases every month, the Korean entertainment industry never fails to make fans happy. This trend will continue with the upcoming K-drama December 2023 releases that include Song Kang’s Sweet Home 2 and Ji Chang-Wook’s Welcome to Samdal-ri.

The month of November entertained viewers with many amazing Korean dramas, such as Strong Girl Nam-Soon, Castaway Diva, and Twinkling Watermelon. As a new month is set to begin, a new list of K-dramas is lined up for fans to look forward to.

Here are the upcoming K-drama December 2023 releases:

Sweet Home 2

Sweet Home Season 2 is the upcoming K-drama December 2023 series that will premiere on Friday, December 1, on Netflix. Song Kang reprises his role of Cha Hyun-Su who will discover that he is the solution to the apocalypse. The first season saw him as a troubled teen who wanted to kill himself but changed his plans after the city was hit with a deadly virus. He and his neighbors decide to fight the virus, however, many die. 

The survivors move towards a safe haven while Hyun-Su leaves with infected Sang-Wook (Lee Jin-Uk). In Sweet Home 2, Hyun-Su will turn into a science experiment.

Welcome to Samdal-ri

Welcome to Samdal-ri will premiere on Saturday, December 2, 2023, on JTBC and Netflix. Starring Ji Chang-Wook and Shin Hae-Sun, the new K-drama is about two childhood friends Jo Yong-Pil and Jo Sam-Dal reuniting and, eventually, falling in love. They were raised in the town of Samdal-ri in Jeju Island. 

Yong-Pil prioritizes his townspeople over his career, while Sam-Dal never wants to stay in her hometown. She leaves and becomes successful, but fate brings her back to Samdal-ri. Consisting of 16 episodes, this upcoming K-drama December 2023 release will air on Saturdays and Sundays.

Soundtrack #2

Starring Keum Sae-Rok and Steve Noh (aka Noh Sang-Hyun), Soundtrack #2 is an upcoming K-drama to release on December 2023. It will premiere on Wednesday, December 6, on Disney Plus. It is the sequel to the 2022 series, Soundtrack #1, starring Park Hyung-Sik and Han So-Hee.

In the new drama, Sae-Rok and Steve Noh play Do Hyun-Seo and Ji Soo-Ho, respectively. They are ex-lovers who meet again after years. The spark, which they thought had died, reignites and they set on a new rom-com journey.

Death’s Game

Death’s Game will premiere on Friday, December 15, 2023, on TVING. The star-studded new K-drama is the story of a depressed man who decides to end his life. Seeing him disrespecting the value of life, Death appears in the form of a woman and punishes him. Now, he has to experience 12 cycles of life and death as punishment.

Seo In-Guk plays Choi Yi-Jae while Park So-Dam essays the role of Death. Aside from them, the A-line cast includes Lee Jae-Wook, Sung Hoon, Jang Seung-Jo, Kim Ji-Hoon, Super Junior’s Choi Siwon, Kim Kang-Hoon, Lee Do-Hyun, Go Yoon-Jung, Kim Jae-Wook, and Oh Jung-Se.

Gyeongseong Creature

Gyeongseong Creature will premiere on Friday, December 22, 2023, on Netflix. It will star Park Seo-Joon as Jang Tae-Sang and Han So-Hee as Yoon Chae-Ok. Tae-Sang is a wealthy man who is quite reliable and talented. Chae-Ok is good at finding missing people and thus arrives at Gyeongseong to find her long-lost mother. The two get involved with each other in a missing people case that leads to a dangerous reality.

Apart from the aforementioned shows, the upcoming K-drama December 2023 releases also include My Man is Cupid on December 1, Night Has Come on December 4, Maestra: Strings of Truth on December 9, Like Flowers in Sand on December 20, and My Happy End on December 30.
