Squid Game: The Challenge Teaser Trailer Sets Release Date for Netflix Reality Show

Netflix has dropped a brand new Squid Game: The Challenge teaser trailer for its newest reality competition, inspired by the streamer’s mega-hit K-drama of the same name. The show is scheduled to make its debut on November 22.

The video previews the 456 contestants from all over the world competing for the chance to win $4.56 million, which is the largest lump sum cash prize in reality TV history. Like the original series, the players will be wearing green tracksuits during the rest of the competition.

Who made Squid Game: The Challenge?

Squid Game: The Challenge is executive produced by Nicola Brown, Tim Harcourt, John Hay, Toni Ireland, Anna Kidd, and Stephen Lambert. It hails from Studio Lambert (The Circle) and The Garden (24 Hours in A&E), part of ITV Studios. Filming for Season 1 took place in the UK last January.

“456 real players will enter the competition show in pursuit of a life-changing reward of USD $4.56 million,” reads the synopsis. “As they compete through a series of games inspired by the original show – plus surprising new additions – their strategies, alliances, and character will be put to the test while competitors are eliminated around them.

Squid Game Season 2 is currently filming its second season, with Lee Jung-jae, Wi Ha-joon, Gong Yoo, and Lee Byung-hun reprising their respective roles. They will be joined by a star-studded ensemble cast consisting of Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Jo Yu-ri, Park Gyu-young, and more.

Due to its critical and commercial success, the original series has earned three Golden Globe nominations, including South Korean veteran actor O Yeong-su winning Best Supporting Actor in a Series for his portrayal of Oh Il-nam/Player 001. It also made history by becoming the first non-English show to receive four major SAG nominations, with Lee Jung-jae and Jung Ho-yeon winning Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor.
