Giancarlo Esposito Joins Radio Silence’s Universal Monster Movie

The cast of Radio Silence’s secretive Universal Pictures monster movie grows, as Deadline reports Giancarlo Esposito has joined the cast of the film.

Esposito’s role is unknown, as with most details about the project. The film will release on April 19, 2024, however, so more information may arrive soon. Alongside Esposito, the film will star Kathryn Newton, Alisha Weir, and Melissa Barrera, among others.

Giancarlo Esposito is best known for his time in the hit television series Breaking Bad, where he portrayed the villainous drug kingpin Gus Fring. Up next, he’ll star in the 2023 animated film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, as well as in 2024’s The Electric State and Megalopolis.

Who’s Involved in the Universal Monster Movie?

The untitled movie is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. It hails from a screenplay written by Stephen Shields with revisions by Guy Busick. William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and James Vanderbilt produce for Project X Entertainment along with Radio Silence’s Chad Villella.

Further details about the project’s characters and plot are still under wraps. However, the untitled monster movie was initially titled as Dracula’s Daughter. The story revolves around a group of kidnappers who abduct a band of young people. One of the victims, however, is the titular bloodsucker.

Universal Pictures intends to give the project the same treatment as classic monster reboots like Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man and Chris McKay’s Renfield. The studio plans to deliver “a unique take on legendary monster lore.”

The untitled movie will be part of Universal’s growing list of upcoming creature features. These include Elizabeth Banks’ Invisible Woman, the Ryan Gosling-led Wolfman film, the James Wan-produced Van Helsing movie, and Chloe Zhao’s sci-fi Western Dracula movie.
