Godzilla Minus Zero Teaser Trailer Brings the Survivors Back for Another Fight

A new trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero brings back some familiar faces. The upcoming sequel arrives three years after the critically acclaimed Godzilla Minus One.

The sequel’s synopsis reads, “War reduced Japan to zero, and Godzilla plunged it into minus. Two years have passed since then, and the country has faced agonizing struggles to achieve recovery and finally reclaim its daily life. Just as humanity managed to cling to a hard-won peace, a new threat strikes, crushing hope in an instant. There is no third time. Everything ends here.”

Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe return as Godzilla Minus Zero follows Minus One

The trailer gives fans a new glimpse of returning stars Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe as Koichi and Noriko Shikishima. The footage opens in 1949, setting the stage for the film’s events. “Returning to Zero is not an option,” reads the text on screen. Brief glimpses of action can be seen, including a plane dropping what appears to be a nuclear bomb on an unknown land. The footage ends with a breathtaking shot of Godzilla emerging from the ocean behind a seaplane.

Besides Kamiki and Hamabe, the sequel adds to its cast Kokuho star Min Tanaka as the war-scarred biologist Kanji Murakami. Hidetaka Yoshioka returns as Kenji Noda, now the director of the Disaster Response Bureau. Yuki Yamada also returns as Shiro Mizushima, along with Kuranosuke Sasaki as Seiji Akitsu, Sakura Ando as Sumiko Ota, and Miou Tanaka as Tatsuo Hotta.

Takashi Yamazaki returns as the film’s director, screenwriter, and VFX lead. Godzilla Minus Zero is produced by Toho Studios and ROBOT, with VFX from SHIROGUMI Inc. The first film became one of Japan’s highest-grossing Godzilla films, earning over $116 million worldwide along with a Best Visual Effects win at the 96th Academy Awards. The sequel makes history as Japan’s first feature film shot with IMAX-certified cameras.

Toho will release Godzilla Minus Zero in Japan on November 3, 2026, also known as Godzilla Day. The film will then be released in theaters in North America on November 6, 2026, via GKIDS. It will also be released across Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand during the same week.
