AEW Star Chris Jericho’s Thoughts on Returning to WWE

Chris Jericho, a pivotal figure in All Elite Wrestling since its inception in 2019 and the first AEW World Champion, recently addressed speculation about a potential return to WWE. Despite his iconic tenure in WWE spanning two decades, Jericho has found a new home in AEW, where he has been a constant presence on television and engaged in memorable feuds.

In an interview on Gabby AF, Jericho shared his thoughts on the possibility of returning to WWE. He expressed appreciation for his time in WWE but emphasized his enjoyment of working in AEW and collaborating with AEW President Tony Khan. He stated, “I had a great 20 years there, but I’ve had a great going on five years here in AEW; I love working here, like I love working with Tony Khan. And WWE is completely different animal now than it was when I left in 2017… So it’s not something that I really thought about.”

Jericho, who has been with AEW since its inception, has had memorable feuds with stars like MJF, Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston, Ricky Starks, and many more. Jericho’s comments reflect his commitment to AEW and the fulfilling experiences he has had since joining the promotion. While WWE remains a part of his illustrious career, Jericho’s focus is on his current endeavors in AEW.

Why did Chris Jericho left WWE?

Chris Jericho shed light on the time when he left WWE. Jericho’s departure from WWE came after his storyline with Kevin Owens culminated at WrestleMania 33. Reflecting on this period, Jericho expressed disappointment with the placement of their match on the card. He revealed that Vince McMahon’s decision to move their match to the second spot instead of a more prominent position was a major factor in his decision to leave WWE.

Jericho’s frustration with the placement of his match and the lack of a higher-profile spot led him to reconsider his future with the company. While acknowledging the realities of the industry, Jericho’s desire for better positioning and recognition for his work ultimately influenced his decision to explore new opportunities beyond WWE. This was when he decided to join AEW when The Elite was making a lot of noise in the wrestling world outside of WWE.
