NCIS: New York, the seventh upcoming spin-off from the original CBS procedural, finally has a release date. The new show was announced earlier this year and will see LL Cool J reprise his role as Special Agent Sam Hanna from NCIS: Los Angeles. Following the end of NCIS: LA in 2023, Cool J appeared on NCIS: Hawai’i and NCIS before leading the new spin-off.
As revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, NCIS: New York will premiere on October 6, 2026, at 9 pm ET/PT, along with new seasons of the original show and NCIS: Origins. CBS is also debuting two new shows later this year. With New York, CBS will have three ongoing NCIS series every week.
Who else is starring in NCIS: New York?
Besides LL Cool J, NCIS: New York will star Scott Caan, Jennifer Beals, Jacqueline Byers, Shane Harper, and Devin Druid. Caan will play Nick Schaeffer, a “roguish agent” who previously shared the screen with Cool J in an NCIS: LA-Hawaii Five-0 crossover.
Beals will play Robyn Well, who is described as the director of the NCIS New York field office. Byers will play Addison “Addy” Ross, described as a “rock-solid, tough and resourceful agent with something to prove.” Meanwhile, Harper will play Wyatt Hill, who is a “hopeless romantic”, joined by Druid as Sean Sullivan, a tech specialist.
“NCIS Agent Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) returns to his hometown of New York City to their field office, partnering with a roguish agent (Caan) and helping lead a new team as they are tasked with high-stakes missions to defend one of the world’s most vital cities and ports,” reads the show’s synopsis.
Byron Balasco will serve as the showrunner on NCIS: New York. He was also reported to “likely” write the second episode of the series. The upcoming spin-off will consist of 20 episodes in its debut season. The series comes from R. Scott Gemmill, creator of The Pitt, who also served as the showrunner for NCIS: Los Angeles.
