Dana Terrace, creator of the animated series The Owl House, has criticized Disney’s newly announced plan to bring AI user-generated content to Disney+. Following CEO Bob Iger’s remarks during a recent earnings call, where he outlined upcoming features allowing users to create and share short-form content on the platform, Terrace urged audiences to cancel their Disney+ subscriptions in response.

In a series of posts, Terrace shared her objections on X (formerly Twitter). She reposted coverage of the announcement and expressed concern over the company’s move toward AI content creation. In one post, she wrote, “PICK UP A PENCIL OR DIE.”

In another post, she stated that users can already make and publish their own work independently. She wrote, “‘If you pay us we’ll let you make your own content slop! That we will own!’ YOU CAN DRAW AND WRITE AND POST YOUR OWN S— FOR FREE. Bob Iger and his ilk are f—— ghouls.”

Terrace went further by encouraging viewers to “unsubscribe from Disney+” and even suggested pirating The Owl House as an act of protest. She wrote, “Pirate Owl House. I don’t care. F— gen AI.”

Iger described the initiative as a major technological step for the platform, saying the feature will allow users to create and share their own material directly through Disney+. He described the update as “the biggest and the most significant changes” since its 2019 launch. However, the proposal immediately drew criticism from several people, including Terrace (via The Hollywood Reporter).
