North American Lake Monsters: Hulu orders horror anthology series adaptation
Hulu has picked up a new horror anthology series based on Nathan Ballingrud’s North American Lake Monsters in a new untitled project from Mary Laws (Preacher, Blueberry Toast, The Neon Demon).
Through encounters with Gothic beasts, including fallen angels and werewolves, broken people are driven to desperate acts in an attempt to repair their lives, ultimately showing there is a thin line between man and beast.
The first season of the series will consist of eight episodes and was inspired by the collection of short stories by Ballingrud.
The series is created, written, and executive produced by Laws. Lucan Toh (An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn, Under the Shadow) serves as executive producer, and Babak Anvari (Under the Shadow) EP’s and will also direct.
The currently untitled series is produced by Annapurna Television. The company recently announced that they will also be producing a series based on the college admissions scandal after acquiring the rights to the non-fiction book Accepted, which explores Operation Varsity Blues as called by the government.
The Untitled Mary Laws Project will join Hulu’s horror series slate, which includes J.J. Abrams and Stephen King’s Castle Rock and Jason Blum’s anthology Into the Dark.
