Director James Wan – who has been busy at work on Fast & Furious 7 – teased via Twitter recently that a director for Insidious Chapter 3 had been found and he was eager to share the news. If you’re surprised that Wan himself isn’t directing, don’t be. The man has a tentpole film to complete and Blumhouse Productions – the producer of the Insidious series – wants the third installment of its successful supernatural franchise in theaters April 3, 2015.
Today, Wan broke the news – again, on Twitter – that Leigh Whannell, writer and co-star of the Insidious movies, will direct Insidious Chapter 3.
?This week in Insert Scream Here, we’re giving you two episodes Insidious Chapter 2 is arriving on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD this month and in anticipation of this debut, episodes five and six of ISH look at two of my favorite scenes from Insidious with a special holiday-themed sneak peek at Insidious Chapter 2.

FilmDistrict introduced to fans of Insidious and Insidious Chapter 2 a new web series rooted in the world of the two films. After the jump, check out episode one of the “Specs and Tucker” series featuring Leigh Whannell and Angus Sampson. The description of the first episode goes like this: “Watch Specs and Tucker explore the paranormal before they met the Lamberts.”
Entertainment One (eOne), FilmDistrict, and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) announced today that together they will be developing the third chapter of the micro-budgeted “Insidious” film franchise which Leigh Whannell has signed on to write. Whannell has written both Insidious and Insidious Chapter 2, which just had a stellar first weekend release in North America debuting to more than $40 million at the box office making it one of the largest horror genre openings ever and one of the biggest openings for a film released in the month of September. Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions, which produced both Insidious and Insidious Chapter 2, is producing the next installment along with Oren Peli. Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh Jones, Peter Schlessel, Lia Buman and Xavier Marchand are executive producing.
