Fire Island Trailer: Pride and Prejudice Gets Modern-Day Gay Adaptation

Searchlight Pictures has dropped an official trailer for Fire Island, its upcoming romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen’s classic novel, Pride and Prejudice. The film is scheduled to make its debut on Friday, June 3, exclusively on Hulu.

The video, which you can check out below, features a group of gay friends led by Saturday Night Live‘s Bowen Yang and Joel Kim Booster, as they go on their annual weeklong vacation to the ultimate gay destination.

“Set in the iconic Fire Island Pines, the film is an unapologetic, modern-day rom-com inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice,” reads the synopsis. “The story centers around two best friends who set out to have a legendary week-long summer vacation with the help of cheap rosé and a cadre of eclectic friends. ”

Fire Island is directed by Andrew Ahn from a screenplay written by lead star Joel Kim Booster. Joining them are Conrad Ricamora (How to Get Away with Murder), James Scully (You), Matt Rogers, Nick Adams, Tomás Matos, and Torian Miller with Margaret Cho (All American Girl).

It is executive produced by Booster, Tony Hernandez, John Hodges, and Brooke Posch. The film is a production by JAX and Searchlight Pictures.
