Colin Firth Tries to Deceive Nazis in Operation Mincemeat Trailer

The official trailer for John Madden’s forthcoming war drama film titled Operation Mincemeat has been released, starring Colin Firth, Matthew Macfadyen, Jason Isaacs, and more.

The Operation Mincemeat trailer, which you can check out in the player below, features two British intelligence officers as they proposed an unconventional war strategy that aims to deceive the Nazis from disrupting The Allies’ plan invasion on Sicily.

Warner Bros. International will be releasing the film in UK theaters on January 7, 2022. For its U.S. debut, Netflix will handle its North American distribution but still hasn’t set its date.

Inspired by an extraordinary true story, Operation Mincemeat centered around an idea that altered the course of the war. The film stars Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), Matthew Macfadyen (Succession), Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter films), Johnny Flynn (Emma), Penelope Wilton (Downton Abbey), Tom Wilkinson (Batman Begins), Simon Russell Beale (The Death of Stalin), and more.

“Set in 1943, The Allies are determined to break Hitler’s grip on occupied Europe and plan an all-out assault on Sicily; but they face an impossible challenge – how to protect a massive invasion force from potential massacre,” reads the synopsis. “It falls to two remarkable intelligence officers, Ewen Montagu and Charles Cholmondeley, to dream the most inspired and improbable disinformation strategy of the war – centered on the most unlikely of secret agents: a dead man.”

Operation Mincemeat is directed by John Madden (Shakespeare in Love) from a screenplay written by Michelle Ashford, based on Ben Macintyre’s book of the same name. It is produced by Charles S. Cohen, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, and Kris Thykier.
