Andrew Garfield (Under The Silver Lake) stars in Mainstream from director Gia Coppola (Palo Alto), and IFC films has debuted its trailer today. The film also stars Nat Wolff (The Stand), Johnny Knoxville (Bad Grampa), Jason Schwartzman (Fargo), and Kalena Yiaueki.

Aspiring to great internet heights, Frankie and Link bring in her friend Jake (Wolff) to begin the collab that will change their lives. The trailer gives us a peek at the film’s dark satire. It explores the viral rise to fame many online figures turned influencers find themselves in when acquiring a huge platform and power to sway the masses. We get a fun look at the cult of personality that builds around Link and how Frankie’s grip on producing content quickly begins to slip from her fingers. The dark side of influencer culture rears its head when digital network producers and teams demand more and more views. Frankie and Link find themselves at the mercy of social media’s quick turn on those who can’t keep up with the trends.

Mainstream is Gia Copolla’s follow-up to Palo Alto, her directorial debut, with a script co-written by Tom Stuart. IFC Films will distribute in North America. The film is produced by Fred Berger of Automatik, Coppola of American Zoetrope, Garfield, Lauren Bratman, Jack Heller and Scott Veltri of Assemble Media, Francisco Rebelo de Andrade, Siena Oberman of Artemis, Enrico Saravia, Zac Weinstein of Dynasty and Alan Terpins of Tugawood.
