Robert Downey Jr. is attached to star in The Accidental Genius for Warner Bros., Deadline reports.
The film, from a pitch by relative newcomer Adam Gibgot, deals with a man whose intelligence increases dramatically after he awakens from a coma and who begins having visions that lead him to join forces with another man in the effort to solve a global mystery.
Team Downey will produce the project alongside Ben Silverman’s production company, Electus.
Downey is next set to appear in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, and next summer’s The Avengers. It was also just announced that he’s planning to star as Perry Mason in a feature film franchise of original Erle Stanley Gardner books.
