New ‘Ant-Man’ TV Spot Spoils Avengers Cameo

Warning, this post contains spoilers that could be revealed merely be scrolling down the post.

Since making this expanded universe of theirs, it shouldn’t be shocking to see an Avenger or two pop into adjacent Marvel movies. But isn’t part of the fun not knowing who will show up when? The company behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t seem to agree, or care. That, or they’re pulling a Terminator Genisys and doing whatever they can to get people to see their latest movie, especially considering it’s the newest character to be introduced into the MCU.

Either way, this Spanish TV spot for next week’s Ant-Man lets you know one particular superhero friend that will make his way into this new origins-tale blockbuster. If you don’t want to know who it is, naturally don’t read any further.

Alrighty then, so Falcon (Anthony Mackie) pops in for a quick how-do-you-do in this insect-themed story. What is he doing? Who knows. The trailer doesn’t even show his scene, just a quick appearance amid a flash of punching, exploding, and blasting away to let people know this is a Marvel movie.

This is not the first time they’ve spoiled (what looks to be) a third-act cameo. They did something quite similar with Iron Man’s cameo in The Incredible Hulk during a TV spot back in the day. Fans weren’t happy at all about that then, I remember, and I can’t see why they should be happy now.

Speaking of the Avengers themselves, the final international trailer for the new movie finally addresses, in joke form, something everyone should probably address in these movies. Unlike Captain America: The Winter Solider or Thor: The Dark World, we finally have a lead ask the question: why don’t we call the Avengers and have the team settle this debacle? We don’t hear the response to this question, but hopefully the answer arrives in a world where these superheros are all tight with one another and often solve the world’s problems together. It’s a good start.
