Nicolas Winding Refn Announces Next Movie is All Female Horror ‘I Walk with the Dead’

While serving on the jury at the Cannes Film Festival, news broke that Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive) was looking at a movie titled The Bringing as his next feature (more details I Walk with the Dead, an all-female horror film with a screenplay by playwright Polly Stenham.

The only details we have on the film are those Stenham revealed to the London Evening Standard last October saying, “He’s got a lot of stick for doing films some people think are violently misogynistic… So he approached me with the idea of doing something different.”

As far as what we can look forward to, “It’s going to have a bit of everything.” Not exactly specific, but Refn did tell The Playlist back in 2009, “I wrote this story called, I Walk With the Dead and it takes place in Miami and it’s just going to have a lot of sex in it.” No telling how much things have changed since then.

Back in 2011, Refn said it would be his Drive co-star Carey Mulligan starring in the film, but that was three years ago.

The film will be shooting in Los Angeles, presumably sooner than later for what I expect would be a 2015 release.
