Orci in Talks to Direct ‘Star Trek 3’ and ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ and ‘Wolverine 2’ May Shoot Back-to-Back

In order to help Hugh Jackman maintain his veined-out appearance as Wolverine in the X-Men films the producers are attempting to film X-Men: Apocalypse and the Untitled Wolverine Sequel back-to-back. [Collider]

Roberto Orci has emerged as the frontrunner to pick up where J.J. Abrams left off and direct Star Trek 3 and is reportedly in talks. As far as I’m concerned this just means more of the same, which makes it hard to even care any more. [Deadline]

Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara are set to star in the new action comedy for director Anne Fletcher (The Proposal) at New Line. The movie centers on an uptight, by-the-book cop (Witherspoon) who is trying to protect the sexy and outgoing widow of a drug boss (Vergara) as they race through Texas pursued by crooked cops and murderous gunmen. Filming begins this month in New Orleans. [THR]
