Normally on a J.J. Abrams project, and many film projects for that matter, the working title during the film’s production will be something silly or entirely unrelated to the actual production. For example, The Dark Knight was known as Rory’s First Kiss, The Avengers was known as Group Hug, Cloverfield as Cheese (among many other things), Alfred Hitchcock‘s Psycho was Wimpy, Quentin Tarantino‘s Pulp Fiction was Black Mask and Clint Eastwood‘s Unforgiven was known as The Cut-Whore Killings. Hell, even Star Wars: Episode IV – Return of the Jedi was known as Blue Harvest.
Now a rumored working title for Star Wars: Episode VII has surfaced over at AICN and it seems more like a possible real title rather than just a working title, that being Star Wars: Episode VII – The Ancient Fear.
The site’s source adds speculation that the title refers to Max von Sydow‘s character saying this new villain makes Pazuzu, the demon in The Exorcist, “look like a pussy!” Classy.
I’m sure we’ll know soon enough if this is legit or if it is, in fact, just a working title. Certainly Disney wouldn’t want to jump the gun announcing the title if they weren’t 100% positive about what it would be. After all, they have until December 2015 to release the film and as of now, Star Wars: Episode VII works just fine.
Oh, and Disney president Bob Iger posted this selfie with someone (possibly Peter Mayhew) in a Chewbacca suit on Instagram. Neat.
