The final weekend of our first ever RopeofSilicon Box Office Challenge has arrived and a winner will be crowned soon. In fact, the drama has been heightened slightly as Paramount has still yet to release actuals from last weekend, which means someone could earn a lot of points really fast.
As for this weekend, there are some differences between Laremy’s predictions and the readers beginning with The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which the readers have pegged for $22.7 million, $2 million less than Laremy who predicted the Ben Stiller melodramatic fantasy to just barely edge out The Wolf of Wall Street.
Laremy and the readers were rather similar when it came to Wolf‘s total however, with the readers only going $100,000 higher with a $24.2 million reader aggregate.
As we near the bottom of the barrel, the readers thought Laremy went too high on both 47 Ronin and Grudge Match. In fact the readers went $2 million lower on Ronin and $2.3 million less on Grudge Match.
