First Look at the ‘Jackie Brown’ Prequel, ‘Life of Crime’, with Hawkes, Def and Aniston

Daniel Schechter‘s Life of Crime, based on Elmore Leonard’s “The Switch”, a prequel to “Jackie Brown”, which Quentin Tarantino adapted into a film in 1997, will have its world premiere as the closing night film at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival. Today I have the first picture from the film featured directly above as we see Louis (John Hawkes) and Ordell (Mos Def as Yasiin Bey) — two common criminals in 1970s Detroit — wgho kidnap the housewife (Jennifer Aniston) of a corrupt real estate developer (Tim Robbins) and hold her for ransom.

Typically closing night films at film festivals aren’t exactly the best, but the fact we’re talking about a Leonard adaptation does have me vaguely curious in this film. Problem is, I may already left Toronto by the time it screens. We’ll see.

Isla Fisher, Will Forte and Mark Boone Jr. also star.
