Following nearly a year of development, casting and filming, the crime thriller Destroyer is finally gearing up to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month and Annapurna Pictures has released a first look photo at Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman in the lead role. Destroyer follows the moral and existential odyssey of LAPD detective Erin Bell who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past.
Whitford, Kebbell and McNairy Join Nicole Kidman in Destroyer
The film features an ensemble cast that includes Kidman, who just came off an Emmy win for her acting and producing on the HBO hit Big Little Lies, Bradley Whitford (Get Out), Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Sebastian Stan (Avengers: Infinity War), Toby Kebbell (War for the Planet of the Apes), Scoot McNairy (Halt and Catch Fire) and Beau Knapp (The Nice Guys). Destroyer is being helmed by Karyn Kusama, whose previous works include Jennifer’s Body, The Invitation and a segment on the 2017 horror anthology XX.
Destroyer will be making its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September followed by a theatrical release on December 25.
